Stuckism was founded in 1999 by Charles Thomson and Billy Childish (who left in 2001). In 2022, Black Ivory Printmaking & Audio Club hosted STUCKISM: THE EXHIBITION: the first, and to date only, exhibition of all the major Stuckists to include both founders work and be held in the conditions instructed by the Stuckism manifesto. The first Stuckist exhibition of the Stuckists, and it only took 23 years to happen.
“The Stuckist is opposed to the sterility of the white wall gallery system and calls for exhibitions to be held in homes and musty museums, with access to sofas, tables, chairs and cups of tea. The surroundings in which art is experienced (rather than viewed) should not be artificial and vacuous. – Stuckism manifesto, Point 18
All current members and contributors to Black Ivory Printmaking & Audio Club are also members of Stuckism groups.
